Glenda Colleen Gambill
Glenda Colleen Gambill is the daughter of Alice and Walter Gambill. She was born in Weaverville, North Carolina, and graduated from Western Carolina University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.
Glenda taught elementary school for a total of twenty-five years, including twenty-one years in Florida, three years in South Carolina, and one year in Texas. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1989, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Mecklenburg School System. She also worked part-time in her family’s dry cleaning, alteration, and tuxedo rental business located in Cornelius, North Carolina. She enjoyed meeting and talking with many friendly and interesting people through her work there.
In addition to her professional career, Glenda devoted many years to caring for her mother after the passing of her father in 1984. Because her mother lived in Florida while Glenda lived in North Carolina, she spent many years traveling between the two states to care for her. Her mother lived to be 101 years old and passed away in 2005 at her home in Florida.
Today, Glenda resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she enjoys reading, writing, playing the piano, gardening, and traveling.
